Dr. Jim Bohrer, Senior Pastor
First, thank you for visiting our site. I hope to personally meet you during Sunday worship. Concerning my view of the Bible, my belief is simple: I trust the Bible as God’s Word and know He speaks directly through it (Romans 1:16). I see that He still works in the world today through His church (Romans 12, 1 Cor. 12, and John 14:12-14).
In 1998, I had been assigned to Indiana as a Crusade Associate with Billy Graham. During that time, I filled the pulpit here at Hope. That year filled my days and nights with the fun and frantic work of preparing local churches for the Crusade. The search committee asked me to consider becoming the pastor. While apprehensive at first, Sarah and I had a young, growing family to consider, and with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I decided to take on the responsibility. During the past two decades, we have been blessed with raising our four children in a happy and loving faith community.
Rewind to before my arrival in Indiana, I began school with the vision of becoming an Architect. While at Clemson University, I developed a strong relationship and faith with Jesus, thanks to some close friendships I had made. As I grew, fellow believers encouraged me to look at ministry. The Baptist Student Union offered to sponsor me as a Summer Missionary. The team assigned me to serve in Estes Park, Colorado where I stayed on staff for over a year. I met Sarah there, and she too had sensed the Lord calling her to serve Him in ministry. We soon married and headed off to Seminary.
During my Seminary years, I served as a pastor, and along with Sarah, I joined a traveling evangelistic group, where we became very active in that work. As time ensued, we both graduated together and landed in Brownsburg, a town we’ve grown to love. Our church family has been a blessing in their love for us and our community, and it always draws us closer to the lord and to each other.
Mackenzie Zambrano, Youth Pastor
Pastor Mac joined our church staff in 2016. Once Cassie completed college, she and Mac married in April of 2019. If asked where he invests his time (outside of loving the Lord and his wife), here is his response, “the Word, students, and sports.” He engages our youth in the overall life of our church. He guides and joins the students through serving our church and community. He also connects the generations in our church through ministry called Age to Age. Student and adults share encouraging notes and pray for each other throughout the year. We believe church is more than an event, we are a family.
Aside from Sundays, you will see Mac encouraging the students at their athletic games, musicals and concerts. Mac provides a place where the students can bring their friends, learn about the Word, and have fun. We have plenty of ways to get your student(s) involved. Mac has a wonderful team of adult volunteers that support our youth through Life Groups, mission trips, outreaches, weekend events, retreats, camps, spontaneous game nights, and Bible studies. Mac has a heart for the Lord and dedication to growing the students in their walk with Jesus.
Mac graduated from Moody Bible Institute. When not at church, Mac enjoys spending time with family, youth, playing with his dog Leo, and tournament level disc golf. Pastor Mac would love to meet you and your student(s)!

Sarah Bohrer, Worship Leader
Sarah grew up in a home with parents who loved Jesus and were committed to the local church. She is grateful that she can’t remember a time when she didn’t know Jesus and the love of the church. At the age of seven, she chose to follow Jesus with her whole heart and was baptized. She loves being a wife, Mom, leading worship and a good cup of coffee with friends. She works part time for the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana planning children’s camps, events and VBS trainings for the Southern Baptist Churches of Indiana. Sarah has earned her Bachelor of Music from Colorado State University and Masters of Christian Education Degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Sarah enjoys her four children, spending time with her friends, being involved in show choir and musicals with the kids, reading, and conversation over a warm cup of tea.
Suzanne Piepenbrink, Administrative Assistant
Suzanne joined the staff in May of 2019. She has worked as an administrative assistant for over 20 years and is delighted to have landed here at Hope. When Suzanne is not in the office, she enjoys painting, exercise, travel, and spending time with her husband Steve and their blended family of 8 kids and 3 grandchildren. Steve and Suzanne attend church in Whitestown, IN. and have a mini labradoodle named Phoebe.
